It’s been some years now since I first felt that feeling of happiness and joy from looking at kids playing. I realised then that kids spread love from their sheer directness, and often put a magic smile on our faces. It was my sister and my daughter Kačenka who unwittingly inspired me and gave me the idea of creating an enchanting space just for kids. A space in which kids’ dreams could come to life, and where even the youngest could feel safe.
I opened my first kid’s play area in a shopping centre in Ústí nad Labem. It wasn’t long before I decided to take on everything myself. Both design and realisation. My partner gave his unwavering support and as such I was able to take full control of creating further play areas. I spent countless hours with my little clients and I took thorough note of what they enjoyed the most. Being immersed in a kid’s world was like seeing everything from a different perspective. And so I got a lot of experience and an incentive to adapt operations to exactly fit the needs of kids and their parents. I believe it has been a success. And so on the basis of my initial experiences, a whole range of additional play areas could be set up which are islands of contentment scattered across the whole Czech Republic.
I still take the time to watch kids’ satisfied faces and hear their laughter and wishes. I approach my work with an open heart, because I know that the first critics of my ideas are my own kids.
